If you are in 7th Grade to early college and career age, come check out the Friday Night lights that are shining through our church building at Beacon UMC. Our youth group has been meeting faithfully since the start of 2011 under the leadership of our Young People's Ministry coordinator Dione Corsilles.
Several young adults have also stepped up to provide further leadership and presence for the young people, and many families have volunteered to prepare food; this consistency has helped the youth group grow deeper in their love and knowledge of Christ, study the Bible together, and increase their thirst for fellowship and mission opportunities.
Prayers and financial support for our youth group also helped send a vanload of young people to Sacramento, California to attend Youth 2011 last July — the biggest national gathering for United Methodist youth held only every four years. Those who participated were able to bring back what they learned, share their experience with our entire congregation, and be part of a special article featured in an issue of Channels, a monthly publication of the Office of Connectional Ministries of the Pacific Northwest United Methodist Conference.
This upcoming December, our youth prepare once again for another spiritually nurturing and faith-raising experience at Christmas Institute, a 5-day retreat that originated through the United Methodist Church in the Philippines, equipping our young people with the tools, resources, and encouragement to be strong leaders in their church and community.
